Alive After Five is an opportunity for Club members and friends to relax,
unwind and socialize monthly at area bars, taprooms and pubs. Participants often take
advantage of nearby dinner possibilities to extend the evening.

On Friday, March 19, 2010, What’s Your Beef is welcoming us back for another
exciting happy hour in this upscale, “New York” atmosphere. Happy hour will
be from 4-8, featuring discounted drink specials. These include $1 off
bottle beer, $5 house Martinis, $5 glass of wines and $5 well drinks. There
will be complimentary appetizers for us to munch on (5:30-7:30) as well as

From East take 78 West local lanes to route 24 West.
Get off at exit 8 (Summit Ave. Summit) go 1 block and make a left and go to
third light (Springfield Ave.)
Go 1 block past Springfield Ave. and make a right. (Old fashioned bus type
diner on your right)
Go 2 blocks to the end. (Train station on your left).
Make a right. Fiorino’s restaurant is immediately on your right. Elks club
is above restaurant.
Free parking in garage across the street.
From Morristown area take 287 to route 24 east.
Get off exit 8. Go to light and make a right. Follow directions above.

Stokes State Forest
Hike

Time: 10:15 AM
Location: Stokes State Forest Office
Description: Join the Morris County Ski Club on a moderate
8 mile hike at the end of foliage season from Stony Lake to Sunrise
Mountain. This hike is slightly longer than the usual Morris County Ski Club
hikes but it is not difficult walking.
We will meet at the Stokes State Forest which is right off Route 206 and
then car pool a couple miles to Stony Lake. We will hike along the
Appalachian Trail to the Sunrise Mountain Pavilion. This is the second
highest point of the Appalachian Trail in NJ with an elevation of 1653 feet.
Sunrise Mountain offers views of the NJ and Pennsylvania mountains. We will
then return to Stony Lake by a different trail.
The hike should take about 4 ½ to 5 hours including a lunch break. After the
hike we will go to a nearby Bar and Grill.
Important Notes:
1. Hiking boots are highly recommended for this hike
2. Dress in layers and carry a day pack
3. Bring sufficient water, your lunch and a camera.
4. A trail map will be provided at site.

• Route 287 North to Route 80 West
• Route 80 West about 10 miles to Route 15 North Exit 34B
• Route 15 about 17 miles straight into Route 206 North
• Route 206 North about 7 miles past Culvers Lake on the right and
Kittatinny Lake on the left.
• Almost immediately past Kittatinny Lake there will be sign for Stokes
State Forest Office on the right.
• Pull in and we will car pool a couple miles to Stony Lake.
• It is about an hour drive from Morristown
• There is a bathroom by the office.

planning a night at the lanes. We’re returning to Rockaway Lanes, 365 Route
46, Rockaway NJ. The fun starts at 7pm with drinks/snacks (your own expense)

Chinese New Year
Dinner

Come on out for a Chinese New Year Tasting at “a Taste of Asia II” in
Chatham! Thursday, February 18th at 6:30pm
Join the Morris County Ski Club and your host, Sharon McNulty, to celebrate
the “Year of the Tiger”. “A Taste of Asia II” is located at 245 Main Street
in Chatham on the corner of S. Passaic Avenue. The phone number of the
restaurant is 973-701-8821.
The menu will be pre-fixe and served Family Style. It will be a full-course
meal including appetizer, Dumpling soup, Tilapia, Stuffed Prawn, Shitake
mushrooms, as well as Sichuan Spicy Chicken, Black Pepper Pork Medallions,
shrimp and beef stir fry, and a tasty dessert.
The restaurant does not have a liquor license but you are encouraged to
“bring your own”. Space is limited, so please sign up by Tuesday, February
16th.
Cost: $52.00 per person includes full family style tasting
dinner.

Take Route 287 N or S to exit 35 – 124/Madison Avenue (toward Morristown
Memorial Hospital and the colleges). Take Madison Avenue straight for
approximately 6 miles. The street name changes to Main Street as you
transition from the town of Madison to Chatham. You will see it on the right
side of Main Street at the light on the corner of S. Passaic Avenue.

NJ Devils Hockey Vs. The St. Louis Blues

at the Newark Prudential Center
Join the Morris County Ski Club and our trip leader Jeff Baldwin for an
exciting game as the NJ Devils take on the Blues of St. Louis at their new
home, the Newark Prudential Center also known as the “Rock”. The cost of the
ticket is $47, which represents a discount over the box office price of $56.
As an added bonus, the price of the ticket also includes a $10 food voucher.
Game time is 7:00 PM and there is information regarding transportation to
the arena below. We will try to pick a place near the arena to meet before
the game. After the game we will pick a nearby place for post game
refreshments.

The arena is located at 165 Mulberry Street in Newark. To obtain driving
directions use this address for mapquest or a number of other navigational
programs. You can also obtain directions from the NJ Devils web site
http://devils.nhl.com/. This site also has a map of the available parking
lots.
You can also take the train to the arena. Trains stop at either Penn Station
in Newark or Broad Street in Newark. From Penn Station it is a short walk to
the arena. From the Broad Street Station there are shuttles to the arena and
the light rail goes to Penn Station in Newark.

Indoor Rock Climbing

Join the Morris County Ski Club for a night of indoor rock climbing at
the NJ ROCK GYM in Fairfield, NJ on May 1st . Experience indoor rock
climbing and bouldering in a fun and safe environment.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Price for this is $24.00 per person for 2 hours.
Our group will have a ratio of 5:1 student to instructor and a max of 30
participants.
If any one is interested in getting a basic belay certification it would
be an additional $16.00
The belaying class will give you the basic skills to climb at the gym,
use equipment, climbing commands, knot tying, belay set up and belay and
lowering techniques.
The Belaying class has to be 4 people max per instructor and would have
to be set up in advance.
