Join the Morris County Ski Club for a night of indoor rock climbing and
a 75’ zip line, 25’ over the gym floor at the DIAMOND ROCK GYM in EAST
HANOVER, NJ on May 1st. Experience indoor rock climbing and bouldering
in a fun and safe environment.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Our group will have a ratio of 5:1 student to instructor and a max of 25
participants.
Price for this is
$25.00 per person for 1 1/2 hours.
The belaying class will give you the basic skills to climb at the gym,
use equipment, climbing commands, knot tying, belay set up and belay and
lowering techniques

Ringwood Lake Hike

Join the Morris county Ski Club on a moderate 7 mile hike in Ringwood State
Park on Saturday May 15, 2010. The hike will climb to the summit of Mount
Defiance with panoramic views and pass several scenic ponds and include a
trip to Skylands Manor and the NJ Botanical Gardens.
There is some climbing although the climbing is not very difficult. The hike
should take about 4 ˝ to 5 hours to complete including a lunch stop at the
shore of Gataun pond and some time to explore the Botanical Gardens. We will
meet at 10:15 AM at Shepherd Lake (see directions below). After the hike we
will go to Prime 15 Steak House & Grill for food and drink.
Important Notes for the hike:
1. Hiking boots are preferable to sneakers as the trails may be a bit muddy.
2. Bring a daypack to carry extra clothing, sufficient water and your lunch.
3. You may want to bring a camera for the views
4. Trail Map and cue sheet will be provided at site, however if you have the
NYNJTC Map #115 bring it.
5. There are restroom facilities at Shepherd Lake which should be open as
well as facilities the Botanical Gardens.

Directions to the hiking location from the Morristown area:
• Route 287 North to exit 55A
• Turn Right onto 511 North (Ringwood Avenue)
• Stay on Route 511 for 7.5 miles. (Ringwood Ave eventually becomes
Greenwood Lake Turnpike)
• Turn Right onto Sloatsburg Road
• After 2.1 miles turn Right onto Morris Avenue
• After 1.3 miles turn Left onto Shepherd Lake Road
• Go 0.8 miles to Shepherd Lake and park in the upper lot.

Spring Weekend Trip

May 21-23, 2010 Baltimore Maryland
Attractions: The Inner Harbor of Baltimore is one of
the top tourist areas with many attractions. The most famous attraction
is the National Aquarium. Additional Inner Harbor attractions include
Maryland Science Center, the Baltimore Maritime Museum (3 historic
ships), the Top of the World observation deck, and the Harborplace (a
dinning, shopping complex). The Baltimore Sports Museum and Oriole Park
at Camden Yards are a short walk away. The Power Plant Live district (a
dining and entertainment district) is also a short walk away. You can
take a water taxi to Fells Point to one of Baltimore’s oldest
neighborhoods complete with historic buildings, neighborhood dining and
drinking establishments. Finally you can also take a water taxi to Fort
McHenry which defended the city during the War of 1812. These are only a
few of the attractions which can keep you busy during your weekend.
Lodging: Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, located a few
dozen steps from all the attractions of the Inner Harbor. The hotel is
rated 4 diamonds by AAA. Among the amenities at the hotel are an indoor
pool, a whirlpool and fitness center. Breakfast is not included but the
hotel does have a café where you may purchase breakfast. There are also
many places nearby where you can get breakfast. The hotel also has
restaurant and bar. We will have a room for bike storage at the hotel.
Biking: There will be one organized bike ride planned.
The distance will be about 25 to 30 miles for the ride. Even if you
choose not to bicycle there are many other activities which can keep you
busy.
Cost: Members cost is $215 per person, which includes 2
nights lodging and a Saturday group dinner up to April 1st. After April
1st the cost for members and guests to sign up will be $230.
Transportation: You are on your own in getting to
Baltimore although car-pooling is recommended as parking is $26/day with
in/out privileges. Once you arrive there should be no reason to drive
until you decide to depart for home as you can walk or take the water
taxi anywhere you want to go.

Broadway - Promises, Promises

Promises, Promises tells the story of Chuck Baxter, a charming
young employee at the Consolidated Life Insurance Company. In an effort to
advance at the company, Chuck lends executives his apartment for their
extramarital romantic trysts. But things become slightly complicated when
Fran Kubelik, the object of Chuck’s affection, becomes the mistress of one
of his executives. Starring Sean Hayes from Will and Grace and Kristen
Chenoweth from Wicked.

Kayaking on the Delaware River

Join the Morris County Ski Club for a day of kayaking on the upper Delaware
River. We will be meeting at the Cedar Rapids Rafting Base in Barryville,
New York where we will be renting single kayaks. The trip length will be
about 8 miles and the total time will be dependent upon the weather and
water conditions that day. We will stop along the way for lunch, swimming
and photography. We will finish our day at the Cedar Rapids bar/restaurant
which overlooks the river.
Cost: $45 - Includes kayaks, paddles, life jackets, instruction, local
transportation (courtesy of Cedar Rapids Rafting -
www.cedarrapidsrafting.com 1-877-557-6158) and lots of fun.
The trip is open to anyone 21 or over.
You will need to bring
• Swim wear and a change of clothes. You will get wet.
• Old sneakers, river sandals, or water sneakers/shoes for kayaking. No flip
flops, or open back shoes.
• Sunscreen and sunglasses.
• A small cooler containing your lunch packed in zip lock bags
• NO GLASS containers on the river,
• No previous kayak experience is necessary but you should be comfortable
around water.

Directions from Morristown area
Route 287 North to exit 52 Route 23 North past High Point and into Port
Jervis. At Port Jervis, take Route 6 West to 97N for 18 miles. Cedar Rapids
is on the left hand side of Route 97.
An alternative is Route 80 West to Route 15 North. Take Route 15 North to
Route 206 North across the Delaware River. In the town of Milford Pa turn
right on to Route 209 North and take this Road to Route 97 in Port Jervis.
Take Route 97 North to Cedar Rapids.

TRAP SHOOTING

Join the Morris County Ski club for a day of outdoor trap shooting at
the THUNDER MOUNTAIN TRAP AND SKEET CLUB in RINGWOOD, NJ on JULY
10th. Experience trap shooting in a safe and friendly environment where
shooters of all abilities can enjoy it.
NO EXPERCIENCE NECESSARY
Our group will have one trapper (instructor per 10 people) to give us
basic instruction on how to shoot and the rules of the game.
Price for this is $24.00 per person for 25 targets (one round).
Limited to 30 people sign up early!!!

August 18th to see the New York Yankees play the Detroit Tigers. We have

Directions:
Take Rt.287 North or South to Rt.10 East.
Continue until you pass Novartis Pharmaceutical complex on the Right (just
passed the intersection of Rt.10 and Ridgedale Avenue).
After this intersection and passing the complex, take the next jug handle
(in front of Movie theatre) to cross over Rt.10 and go West.
You will see the Ramada on the Right shortly after the jug handle.
It is just after the Macaroni Grill and Chili's. For more detailed
